Fund Explorer

Fund Explorer tracks live fund price data across multiple insurers — Prudential, Great Eastern, and Manulife — so you can show a client exactly how a fund has actually performed, not just what a fact sheet claims.

1. Fund Performance

Look up any tracked fund and see its historical NAV, chart it over a chosen range, and pull its money-weighted return (XIRR) for a real client portfolio — how much they actually put in, when, versus what it's worth today.

2. DCA vs. Lump Sum

Compare a dollar-cost-averaging contribution schedule against a lump-sum investment over the same historical window, so a "should I invest it all now or spread it out" question gets a real, backtested answer instead of a guess.

3. Portfolio Report

Export a client-facing PDF summarizing a fund or blend of funds' performance. When you're sending it over WhatsApp rather than printing it, there's an option to generate the report without the benchmark comparison and outperformance figures — useful when you want a clean, simple summary rather than a full analytical breakdown. The full version's Sources section prints the complete source URL for every figure, not just a clickable label, since a link's destination isn't visible once it's on paper.

4. Fund Switch Simulator ("Switch Timeline")

This is built for the exact conversation where a fund looks like it's underperforming: "if we'd switched out of Fund A into Fund B at this point, where would we actually be today?"

Pick a starting fund and a switch-target fund, a period start date, and the date you're simulating the switch on. Skandage uses real historical NAV data — buy-and-hold, no rebalancing — to show two curves side by side: what actually happened if you'd stayed in Fund A, versus what would have happened if you'd switched to Fund B on that date. The headline number is the dollar and percentage difference between the two, ready to export as a one-page PDF for the meeting.

note

This is deliberately a single switch, not a full multi-fund rebalancing simulation — it's built to answer one specific question clearly, not to model an entire portfolio strategy.

5. Portfolio Builder & Saved Blends

Build a weighted multi-fund portfolio — pick your funds, set each one's percentage weight, choose whether to rebalance annually, and project the blend's combined historical performance against a benchmark. Save a blend once you're happy with it, and organize saved blends into your own named groups (e.g. "Growth", "Balanced") so a client-appropriate model portfolio is one click away next time rather than rebuilt from scratch. A blend can belong to more than one group at once.

6. Fund Alerts

Set a target NAV for a specific fund and get notified once it's crossed. Since fund NAVs are published once a day rather than moving in real time, Skandage checks on launch and periodically through the day rather than streaming a live price.
